Guided exercise: build a 16-bar arrangement

Open the project containing your three parts. Set 120 BPM and 4/4. Use Snap 1/4 to align starts to beats and check durations in the properties panel.

Introduction1–41Piano and light drums; omit bass to prepare its entrance.
A5–817All parts enter.
A′9–1233An independent copy varies voicing, line or drum density.
Ending13–1649Reduce or change material to prepare the close.
  1. Duplicate the required blocks and place them at the listed starts. Do not overlap identical copies on one track if they should play consecutively.
  2. For A′, open only the copied block in bars 9–12 at its source. Change one parameter, press Overwrite block and confirm A remains unchanged.
  3. Prepare the ending as a separate block. Reduce drum hits or change its fill.
  4. Set Piece start = 1 and Piece end = 65.
  5. Create two sections: A from beat 17 to 33, with 2 passes; A′ from 33 to 49, with 3 passes. Use + Loop and name each section.
  6. Listen once with Loop off, then enable it and check both sections’ counts.

Piece shows 00:00:32; Execution total shows 00:00:56. You hear the introduction, two passes through A, three through A′ and the ending. Solo piano and bass to check their relationship, then restore the full mix and adjust volume during playback.

Exporting the repeated form. For a 28-bar MIDI file, arrange the introduction (4 bars), A twice (8), A′ three times (12) and ending (4) on each track. The ending occupies bars 25–28; set Piece end = 113. Playback Loop can stay off: the form is now on the timeline.
